My brother-in-law uses a wheelchair and was looking for a local Charleston WV power wheelchairs supplier. I did some research and found AeroFlow Inc. down his way in Charleston and now I’m his favorite sister-in-law. That doesn’t mean much really since I’m his only sister-in-law!

Tilghman Resort is Simply Our Favorite

We’re headed off to South Carolina again and staying in our favorite place. Sure, we could stay in any number of North Myrtle Beach resorts but once you stay in Tilghman Resort you’ll never go back to the others. What can I say – this meets as well as exceeds our needs.

The kids love the huge swimming pool and lazy river. Out of the other North Myrtle Beach resorts we’ve looked at in the past none have outdoor pools as big as this one. The kids watch the free DVD’s from the DVD Kiosk long into the night while we’re sitting out on the patio chatting it up with friends and reminiscing about past vacations spent there.

We’ll be there over Memorial Day Weekend and there’s plenty to do. The Myrtle Beach Memorial Day Parade begins at 27th Avenue North and goes down Ocean Boulevard to 9th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach. Major General Robert E. Livingston will serve as Grand Marshal for the event. The parade will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

We’re also going to take in a jazz concert on that Sunday. Gold Key Jazz Society Concert will be held on May 27, 2012 from 6:30-10 p.m. so if you’re in the area then don’t miss it. It will be at the Clarion Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn West), 101 Fantasy Harbor Blvd., along the Intracoastal Waterway, just west of Myrtle Beach, off U.S. 501. There’s a $30 donation requested.

The Best Accommodations for Children

We’re headed to Myrtle Beach for a vacation with my sister’s family. After reading about all the different condo rentals in the area we settled upon one that will be just perfect for the kids. The condo rentals in Myrtle Beach that we chose we found through Myrtle Beach Vacation Rentals. They were very helpful answering all the questions we had when we called them.

The place we’re staying has an arcade and recreation complex that is the largest of its kind in the area. It stands 3 levels high and on the outdoor rubber floor is the play station where there are over 100 games and thousands of prizes to win. They have a lot for 2-6 year old children to do also. Great big cubes to crawl around in, super shoots to navigate through, ladders to climb and secret look out windows. There are also 11 pools and a wading pool there.

Located right in the middle of Myrtle Beach we’ll be close to all the action. This resort takes up 15 acres so it’s no small place. Of all the condo rentals in Myrtle Beach we looked at we didn’t see any others that offered as much as Sea Mist did; at least not for our kids. When it comes to the grownups we’ll be happy enough with the on-site movie theatre, fitness facilities and Jacuzzis.

New Childrens Floatation Swimwear

Have you seen the new childrens floatation swimwear and swim diapers? This is the greatest invention for active moms that want to take their kids swimming. A company called My Pool Pal has patented a flotation swimsuit designed to help enhance buoyancy and stability in the water while still providing mobility in all directions.

I tried the new childrens floatation swimwear on my toddler and it was a big success in our above ground pool. She liked it much better than have the rubber blowup rings on her arms or wearing a life jacket. The swimwear has foam inserts strategically placed that promotes natural balance in the water. I can’t believe nobody ever thought of this before.

The designs of childrens floatation swimwear that this company carries is wide and varied. Not generic type suits either. They have boy styles and girls styles. They also carry disposable swim diapers as well as reusable swim diapers. I can’t vouch for those since my little one is potty trained but if I had access to them when he was still in diapers you’d better believe I’d have bought them!

Oceanfront Homes Have the Best Views

We just put one of our homes on the market and I’m hopeful it will sell quickly. It’s on Hilton Head Island and just one of a few other Palmetto Dunes oceanfront homes in that particular area of the neighborhood. It’s a newer home and we love it but my husband just accepted a transfer so the kids and I won’t need all that space. The place is huge with it’s six bedrooms and seven and a half bathrooms. It’s a two story home with lots of gardens and is only seven years old.

Palmetto Dunes is probably the nicest part of Hilton Head. They like to say it’s the crown jewel in the crown of Hilton Head Island. It encompasses over 2,000 acres and 3 miles of beachfront. There’s an 11 mile lagoon system that runs through the area. Three world class golf courses, tennis center, kayaking and canoeing, bicycling on trails should all keep any resident busy.

The Palmetto Dunes oceanfront homes are the nicest I think because you have a direct view of the ocean and the sunrises without having to look around someone else’s house, but you pay for that view. That was fine by us because we could afford it. But what we found was that this house was just way too big and way too nice to ever turn it into a vacation rental. Living there full time just never turned out to be an option for us but I’d have loved that.

Our Family Loves it There

You won’t ever be at a loss for things to do when you go to the coast of South Carolina for a vacation like our family does every year and the North Myrtle Beach condo rentals are plentiful. My Beautiful Birthday Present

On behalf of my birthday this year I bought myself the most beautiful gemstone earrings that I’d ever seen in my life. My best friend, Katie, has been a jewelry dealer for the past 5 years, the type that is always after you to have home jewelry parties. I thought I was content with what she sold until I learned about My Rare Earth and the beautiful jewelry they make. I’m going to have to eventually tell Katie, I know. She’s going to see me wearing my new gemstone earrings and will ask me about them.

The gemstone earrings I bought myself are Tagua and Amber Earrings. The description says “Sterling Silver Taqua and Amber Pendant – Tagua and Amber together brings a carefree, sunny disposition and helps balance the solar plexus chakras.” Tagua (tah-gwah) comes from a palm that grows in the rainforests of South America. It’s a plant alternative to ivory. It is a large, hard nut that can be cut, shaped and sculpted into many artistic designs. Tagua takes a beautiful polish and the graceful way it ages resembles loosely in the way ivory does. It will work best rubbed with a little oil to keep its soft sheen.

They have a beautiful selection of jewelry on their website so I’m already scoping out what I’d like to buy next.

It’s True That I’m in Love

OK, it’s official now — I’ve fallen in love with Hilton Head Island and the Hilton Head vacation home rentals I’ve been looking at. I always had my own opinion of Hilton Head Island which fell somewhere between being unable to afford it and believing I had to be retired to live there. After watching a video about Hilton Head Plantation homes for sale I can say “Boy, was I ever wrong!” I’m so impressed by the number of different communities and golf courses they show in the video. You see, Hilton Head is not just for the wealthy, not just for the retired, and not just for singles or couples. There are plenty of families of every size living there, too.
